I Am Not Your Friend

This morning I made a blog post talking about the importance of remembering that the people that you meet in this business are not only strangers but, also, they are not your friend. The reason why I wanted to bring this up was because I’ve seen time and time again artist who have the expectations of a friend from a total stranger. Please remember that this is a business and that no one owes you anything.

Ways to approach a producer, engineer, promoter, manager, artist, or anyone else in this business is to provide value. If need be please be ready to exchange money for services as most people in this business or relying on their income to pay their bills. Too many times people approach each other thinking that the other person owes them something simply because they hit the follow button. The person does owe you the respect you deserve but, it doesn’t go past that until you provide something to that person.

No matter the love that is shown on social media, as I’ve stated in the Vlog, until they know your first name your last name and have met your mother this person is not your friend. I believe that if you look at things from this scope it’ll be easier to navigate in this industry and get to where you are trying to go.
